Welcome to CaptureTheCon at Cyphercon 2026!
CaptureTheCon is a conference-wide CTF that is equal parts social and technical. Meet fellow hackers by scanning badges, then put your skills to the test at wards across the venue.
How It Works
Every attendee receives a badge with an embedded NFC tag. Tap your phone to a badge or ward tag and your browser opens automatically to record the solve — no flags to type in.
- Players — Scan other attendees' badges to collect points. Every badge is worth points, so introduce yourself and tap away!
- Wards — Themed stations around the conference covering topics like lock picking, aerospace, AI, and more. Each ward has NFC tags worth bonus points. Some ward challenges may require a laptop or additional tools to solve.
Getting Started
- Register an account on this site
- Scan a badge or ward tag with your phone
- Log in when prompted — your solve is recorded automatically
- Check the scoreboard to see where you stand
Rules
- No denial-of-service attacks against the CTF infrastructure or other players
- No interfering with, tampering with, or removing ward tags
- Respect your fellow players; this is a social game first
- Creative hacking is encouraged. If something breaks, let us know
Organizers reserve the right to disqualify anyone who ruins the fun for others.
Prize
- The team with the most points wins a Red Badge (a lifetime badge for one individual).
